John George Bauman Obituary

John George Bauman, an esteemed gentlemen of this neighborhood, died at his home three miles west of Woodsfield Friday morning at 1 o'clock, March 5th. Mr. Bauman had been in poor health for number of years but was able to be about until a short time ago when he was stricken with pneumonia and only lasted a few days till God called him home. Brother Bauman was born at Pittsburg, Pa., July 29, 1847, being at the time of his death 67 years and 8 months and 3 days old. He came with his parents to Center township in 1852 where he lived with his sister until death. His parents and three brothers passed to the beyond before him while three sisters and one brother are left to mourn his departure. Mrs. Catherine Christman, Mrs. Lizzie Stephen, Henry Bauman, and Mary Bauman and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral services were held at St. Peter's Evangelical church, Miltonsburg, Ohio, of which he was a member. Rev. W. F. Kohler conducted the services preaching in German and English. In German using the text Psalms 39-14 and in English Psalms 40 pointing the mourners' to Christ, as the only comfort in our affliction.
